Shots and detection

It isn't counting my shots

Two gates reject motion that is not a shot, and they can be too strict for an unusual release. Turn Strict shot detection off in Settings and try again.

If the watch says your pose looks off, recalibrate — the strap moving round your wrist changes what "release" looks like to the sensors.

It's counting things that aren't shots

Turn Strict shot detection on. If it still fires, you probably calibrated somewhere your arm was in an unusual position — recalibrate standing where you actually shoot from.

The release cue doesn't fire

The cue needs calibration, and it forces the live motion source. If you switched the motion source to batched, the cue turns itself back to live — batched delivery arrives about half a second late, which is after your release.

It fires on my pump fake

Expected, and not fixable from a wrist. A fake that reaches your release pose is indistinguishable from a shot until the ball has already gone or not gone.

Marking hits and misses

Double tap doesn't work

Apple's Double Tap gesture needs the display on and ShotPocket in front. If your wrist has dropped and the screen has dimmed, the gesture goes to the system instead. The twist gesture works with the screen off.

HIT and MISS are greyed out

There is no shot waiting to be marked. The buttons only become active once a shot has been detected — otherwise you would be scoring shots that never happened.

I forgot to mark a shot

After the answer window it becomes a miss, and is recorded as auto-resolved so it never teaches the app that good form predicts misses. Set the window to 0 in Settings if you would rather it waited forever.

Followers and coaches

My follower isn't getting notifications

Check the Following screen. If they show as "Notifications off on their phone", they declined the permission — only they can fix that, in iOS Settings.

Nothing is delivered between 9pm and 7am where they are; it waits until morning.

A coach can't see my sessions

Sharing is off until you turn it on, per coach, on their row in Following. Under 13, a parent has to approve first.

I want to stop sharing

Swipe to remove anyone, either direction. It takes effect immediately, including anything queued for delivery, and a coach's stored copy of your sessions is deleted.

Battery and data

The watch battery drains fast

Motion sampling is the cost of the feature. Turn off Save raw motion in Settings for long sessions — the recordings are research data, about 130 MB an hour, and nothing in the app needs them.

A session went missing

Sessions are written to the watch every 30 seconds and sent to the phone when it is in range. If the app was interrupted mid-session, it recovers what was recorded up to the last checkpoint rather than losing the lot.

Getting a new phone

Install ShotPocket and open it. Your sessions come back from your own iCloud. With iCloud Keychain on, your followers come across too.

Still stuck

Email support@shotpocket.com. Tell us what the watch was doing and what you expected it to do — and if you can, the date and time of the session, which is enough for us to find it in your own capture.

We reply to everything.
