Privacy Notice

This notice says exactly what the app keeps, what reaches our servers, and what you can do about either. It describes ShotPocket as it is actually built, not as an aspiration.

There is no account. No sign-up, no password, no email address, no phone number.
Almost everything stays on your phone and watch. Your shots, your sessions, the raw motion recordings, your year of birth and your calibration never leave the device.
Our server is only involved for two optional things — written coaching, and letting someone follow your practice. If you use neither, we hold nothing about you at all.
We do not sell anything, show advertising, or track you across apps or websites.

What never leaves your device

Raw motion recordings	The full sensor waveform, roughly 130 MB an hour. Never uploaded anywhere, including to your own iCloud.
Your year of birth	Used on the phone to work out whether you are under 13. The year itself is never sent.
Your calibration	The shooting pose the release cue is tuned to.
Your sessions	Every shot, result and spot — unless you specifically share your history with a coach, below.
Your surname	Only ever included when a follower or coach you invited sees your name. Never sent with written coaching.

Deleting the app deletes all of this. Raw motion recordings cannot be recovered afterwards, because no copy of them exists anywhere else.

Your own iCloud backup

Your sessions and settings back up to your iCloud, using the Apple ID already on your device. This is your storage under your Apple account — we have no access to it and cannot read it. Raw motion is deliberately excluded. Turning iCloud off leaves the app fully working on that device alone.

What our servers receive, and why

1. Written coaching and Ask Coach — optional

When written coaching is switched on, the app sends aggregate statistics — shot counts, percentages by spot on the floor, and your first name so the coaching can address you — to our server, which passes them to Anthropic, the provider of the AI model that writes the response. Your surname is never included. No raw motion, no individual shot timings, and no location is sent.

The reply is returned to your phone. We do not keep a copy. Switch written coaching off and the app writes the same coaching on your phone, offline, sending nothing.

2. Followers, coaches and notifications — optional

To let someone see how your practice went, our server needs to know which device belongs to whom. It stores:

An anonymous install identifier	A random value created on your device. Not your Apple ID, not your phone's serial number, and not linked to anything else.
A notification token	Issued by Apple, so a notification can reach the right phone. It identifies a device, not a person.
The name you chose	Or, if you are under 13, a nickname the app generates.
Your time zone offset	So "no notifications at night" means night where you actually are.
Whether you are under 13	A yes or no, never a date of birth.
Who follows whom	The links themselves.

The text of a notification passes through and is not stored. The sentence your followers read — "68% over 50 shots" — is written on your phone, handed to Apple's notification service, and forgotten.

3. Session history shared with a coach — off unless you turn it on

If, and only if, you switch on sharing for a specific coach, the app uploads a summary of each session: when it was, how long, how many shots, how many went in, and which spots on the floor. Never the raw motion, and never a session you excluded.

Switching it off, or removing that coach, deletes the stored summaries. It is a deletion, not a hiding.

Who else is involved

Apple	Push notifications, and iCloud backup of your own data under your own Apple ID.
Anthropic	Processes the aggregate statistics described above to write coaching, only when written coaching or Ask Coach is used.

There is nobody else. No advertising networks, no analytics services, no data brokers.

Children under 13

ShotPocket is a general-audience app, and we know some of the people using it are children.

The app asks for a year of birth once, on first launch. The year stays on the device.
Under 13, we do not ask for a real name. The shooter picks a nickname from a fixed list, and that nickname is what a parent or coach sees.
Under 13, a parent or guardian must approve before anything is shared beyond them. The child can invite a parent; until that parent approves on their own phone, no coach can be invited and no session history is uploaded.
Withdrawing that approval removes every coach and deletes any stored practice data.
A coach can never change settings on a child's phone. There is no mechanism for it.

If you believe a child has provided us with more than the above, contact us and we will delete it.

What we never do

Sell or rent your information.
Show advertising, or share anything with advertisers.
Track you across other apps or websites. The app contains no third-party analytics or tracking software of any kind.
Collect your location. The app never requests it and cannot access it.
Record audio, video or photographs.
Let a follower or a coach change anything on your device.

How long things are kept

Notification text	Not stored. It passes through.
Session summaries shared with a coach	Until you turn sharing off or remove the coach, at which point they are deleted. A maximum of 300 sessions is retained.
Your install record and links	Kept while you use the following feature. Removing a follower deletes that link immediately, including anything queued for delivery.
Written coaching requests	Not stored after the response is returned.

Deleting the app removes everything held on the device. It does not automatically remove the install record on our server, because the app cannot tell us it has been deleted — email us and we will remove it.

Your controls

Written coaching	Settings ▸ Coach. Off means nothing is sent.
Followers	Settings ▸ Following. Remove anyone, either direction, any time. They are told nothing and stop receiving anything immediately.
Pause without removing anyone	Settings ▸ Sharing ▸ Tell them when I finish.
Coach history	On that coach's row. Switching it off deletes their copy.
Notifications	iOS Settings ▸ ShotPocket.
Everything	Delete the app, and email us to remove the server-side record.

Email us and we will act on any of these.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, the app will tell you before the change takes effect, rather than quietly updating a page nobody reads.
